Just bought the Nat Riddles album, and noticed a difference between running time quoted and actual running time on a couple of songs.
Good morning little school girl : Quoted is 7.13, actual is 3.56
Houserockin blues : Quoted as 7.25, actual is 3.00

Is this normal, and the quoted times are just a mistake, or should the tracks be a bit longer ?

Only had a brief listen so far, but i like what i hear.

Sounds like something's gone wrong somewhere then.
I might try and download it again and see if that sorts it out.

I just downloaded it and yes, those two tracks are short.

They both seem to end abruptly, too....

Edit:

Here is what the contents of the ZIP file looks like:

Downloaded again, and still both short.
Listened to both, and like arzajac just said, they do end abrupty.

yes, something is wrong. I downloaded mine shortly after Adam posted it.

Sounds like either the file is now corrupted on Tradebit or it get's so during the download.

To anyone who owns a good copy, do you still have the original zip file? What dates were the files created in the zip file? The two bad files here are dated 2008/01/15

You should email Adam and let him know about it (just in case by any chance he doesn't read this thread). I'm sure he'll look into it and solve the issue for you.

minidaz - Thanks for noticing this. I'm not sure if I would have pickup on on the problem.

Here's what happened.

The Nat Riddles album I originally uploaded as a zip file to Tradebit had those two tracks at the proper length. (I've just gone and checked them out.) But ALL the tracks were about a quarter-tone flat, maybe more. (The transfer from old cassette tapes is the culprit on that.)

About nine months after I'd put the album up for sale, one of my customers said, "Hey, the tracks are flat. So I did you a favor: I adjusted the pitch on all of them. Here." And he gave me a private link to a filesharing site where he'd put them.

I downloaded them. I tried two of the cuts--"Juke" and one other. Sure enough: "Juke" was in tune.

So I labeled the new zip "Nat Riddles adjusted pitch" and uploaded it to Tradebit, then substituted it for the earlier zip file.

Apparently my "friend" erred in the transfer process and cut two of the original recordings short.

Here's what I'll be happy to do: I'll be happy to send the two original/flat tracks to the first person who emails me with their willingness to do this, and I'll let them adjust the pitch. (I might be able to do this on the Amazing Slow Downer, but I don't trust my skills.)

I will also instruct that person to post the two tracks to this thread, for free download. Anybody who purchased the entire collection will then be able to get them, and folks who haven't purchased the full collection will be able to sample the majesty of Nat's playing.

asgussow@aol.com

At some point, I'll also substitute the two tracks in the new adjusted pitch zip file.

I wouldn't know where to start with adjusting pitch .. sounds far too complicated for me :o)
Thanks Adam for explaining what happened.

I was working on my version of Easy and I thought I would check Nat's version to see how he did it. When I try to play Easy through windows media player I get the following error message.

'An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help.'

I tried clicking the help button, but that wasn't much help. All the other songs on the album seem to work, does anyone know what that error message means?

Cheers Kingley, I will try that link later.

I just tried playing it through amazing slow downer and it works so the file must be ok.
