BLUES GONE SOUTH NOMINATED IN “BEST AMERICANA, BLUES OR ROOTS ARTIST” CATEGORY FOR 20TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES MUSIC AWARDS; BAND TO PERFORM IN LAMA SHOWCASE@THE WHISKEY IN HOLLYWOOD /THURS. FEB. 25TH
(HOLLYWOOD) –Blues Gone South (a/k/a BGS) start off 2010 with a bang, receiving a nomination in the “Best Americana, Blues or Roots Artist” category for the 20th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards (LAMA), taking place November at Paramount Studios Lot in Hollywood.

BGS finished 2009 with a flourish, capturing a coveted “Hot 100 Artist of 2009” nod from respected trade publication, MUSIC CONNECTION, in the magazine’s year-end issue.
Blues Gone South organized and headlined the first-ever “Chicago Blues Night” at House of Blues/Anaheim last May, playing to an appreciative, sizeable crowd. In April they were featured on the nationally-syndicated radio show, BLUES DELUXE.
Fronted by harpist-vocalist Papa J (Jeffrey Hudson) and also featuring drummer Kofi Baker (son of legendary Cream drummer, Ginger Baker), BGS play a smokin’ hot mix of original blues songs as well as classic Blues numbers in a wailing, Southside-of-Chicago style. BGS are rooted in the tradition of early 20th century blues fueled by the energy of the new millennium. The excitement created by the front line, along with their unique originals tunes, makes this show far above that of a typical “blues” band.

Blues Gone South is the authentic article,” writes Rob Swick of ALL ACCESS MAGAZINE. “It’s a fact that when you’ve got the blues, you’ve “Gotta Keep Movin’,” and Blues Gone South is a darned good band to help you on your way!,” the review concludes.
“Papa J” is a great showman who dazzles audiences with his howlin’ harmonica and trademark ‘gentlemanly howls’ directed at the female members of BGS’s audience. This front man is the real McCoy – dedicated to only the finest blues traditions. Baker is known throughout the country as one of the top timekeepers and makes Blues Gone South swing and really take off when they get charged up.
BGS has shared the stage with James Cotton, Taj Mahal, Bobby Bland, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds just to name a few. They have played B.B. Kings, The Coach House, House of Blues, and Doheny Blues Festival, to name a few. Their debut CD is entitled GOTTA KEEP MOVIN (Hound Dog Records).
