After being frustrated with a homemade rhythm track, I finally grabbed my buddy Kenny to back me up on cajon in my kitchen, for better or worse here it is!
Thanks, y'all! It's funny, I tried to make my own rhythm track with a Sony DD-9 and kept playing take after take and hating every one of them. Kenny offered to play cajon and everything fell into place, I still made mistakes but there was a real groove to fall back on! ---------- http://www.youtube.com/1shanester
Erm....At the risk of looking like a numbskull, what is cajon shanester? I've heard of cajun music but I don't know what cajon is.
No! No! Stop. I feel so embarrassed. I just looked it up, it's a box drum. I am absolutely wetting myself laughing here, because when I first saw your video I couldn't quite work out what the fellow behind you was doing.
I thought, that must be a strange american custom but now, it all falls into place. Phew! What sort of pratt am I?
A cajon (spanish pronunciation, accent 2nd syllable) is an awsome piece of latin percussion. It is a wooden box that you sit on with 2 sides, one has the rattle like a snare drum and the other side doesn't. There is a sound hole cut into it. You can get a bass drum and snare sound from it.
It is the ultimate ghetto drum and would be great for busking!
I can't see the vid now(at work)but I look forward to-I play lots of hand percussion, and man, I want a cajon! They're lots of fun to play. I've seen some DIY plans online where anyone wishing to take the time could build their own. They have snare wires in them to give that distinctive sound. ---------- Todd L. Greene, V.P.

Left handed cigarettes maybe...That's Kenny Parker, he used to be in a crazy much lauded psychadelic rock band called Shiva's Headband back in the 60's and 70's, played with a lot of big shots in Austin and San Francisco back in the day...
He totally rocks, he took me under his wing last summer, we already knew each other but he didn't know I was a musician, started taking me to jams, he even gave me a little solid state fender amp and a microphone!
He also plays bass, and guitar, and tibetan bowls. We are going to do more stuff together and start him his own youtube channel!
hell ya just got me a lefty, getting ready for the Big ice storme fixing to hit.I look forward to seeing some of your alls colaberated work,i bet it will be very cool.
