I'm really working on my 3rd position blues and am wondering what some of the best William Clarke songs would be to study. Any juicy 3rd position stuff really. I'm playing Keep on Drinkin by Paul Delay at the moment.

Thanks in advance beautiful humans of the forum.

You didn't mention diatonic or chromatic, so I put up a Clarke chromatic song.

I have always found the instrumental song "The Boss" to be a very interesting blues chromatic song and not your typical sounding 3rd on a chromatic.

BluesHarmonicaJam.com says it was played in G using an F Chromatic (3rd Position).

I fooled with this song a few times, but never put in the work needed to play it.

If you study and really learn this song you will develop some 3rd position chromatic skills!

I really like Complainer's Boogie Woogie from the Groove Time album.

I think "Blowin' the Family Jewels" is a MUST for William Clarke's 3rd position playing.

Yes, for diatonic "Blowin' the Family Jewels" is a masterpiece.

"Must Be Jelly" has a great third position solo too.

Oh yeah, for diatonic Clarke 3rd position, "Jewels" is the ultimate piece.

With my old blues band circa 2001, I learned Jewels note for note, and we would play it as a set closer - seemed to always get a lively response from the crowd. It's especially cool if you can find a guitar player who will learn all the unison lines to play along with the harp.
