I met these guys at SPAH 2015 in Denver. As the week approached its end they spoke about getting to see mountains only from a distance.
During the week they had impressed me with their skills on harp and their general likeability. I had previously considered a run up to Mt. Evans as a side trip and offered to get them there to see the mountains in my 4 cylinder stick shift Ford Ranger that I had driven from Illinois. Jarred crammed into one of the back jump seats for the ride.
Upon arrival on top of Mt. Evans I decided that in the thin air I was not up to the final rock climb to the highest points. I stayed at the parking lot and playing 24 bars on harp left me out of breath at that altitude.
They climbed up the rock trail and recorded this song they wrote for the occasion.
Watching it again today am still impressed... ----------
I met Jarred in 2018, he showed me some 3rd position basics, gave me a Roly Platt harp wah, and his card. I liked him, and his work. Lots of energy and smarts.
Jarred's a great kid. But I guess he's not a kid anymore. He has a degree in electrical engineering, and worked summers at Lone Wolf. He currently designs equipment for radio stations. Connor's another good kid. Going to law school, and just got engaged.
This was recorded 5 years ago and they were not "kids" then, actually young adults. They were young players who had come to SPAH as teens, stayed involved for several years even then, and were assisting with the youth program. ----------
