Hi all, hope everyone's keeping well in these crazy times?

I have a friend who builds some really terrific amps for harp players here in the UK and he's currently working on a new tube driven harmonica pre-amp for players who would prefer to play through a p.a. or simply don't want to carry a large amp to gigs. Based upon the prototype build the early indications are it works great to reproduce that fat, driven harp tone many players are looking for.

He's asked me a question which I volunteered to post here on his behalf. The question is, if this is something you would be interested in, would you ever want to use the pre-amp to dirty up a clean amp (i.e. rather than using a pedal or a decent valve amp) or would it only ever be for use with a p.a? He's considering extended the options so it could be used with an amp, but it will add complexity and cost and neither of us were convinced there would be much in the way of demand for this feature.

We'd both be really grateful for your thoughts, insights and general feedback whether amateur or pro.

Thanks all.

Check out Lone wolf pedals---Harp attack and harp break---one has a small tube in it---both for dirtying up a signal-- can go into an amp thats to clean or direct Pa

Also check out kinder box

hope this helps

yes there is a market for making a signal dirty---be careful Impedance----It should be able to go direct pa in 1/4" line in or direct into amp--

"High-Z", it usually means an impedance much higher than 500 kOhm. It's designed for things like passive piezo pickups, or magnetic pickups on acoustic instruments where you want full frequency range and no capacitance loading.May 22, 2014

hope this helps
