Some Evans Shuffle ramblings...

I've put together a version, but it's really hard without a proper backing track. In fact, I had to record the harp part first over a drum track, and then tried to make a backing track to fit so I could get the pause in the right place (spoiler: it's not quite in the right place). That, as well as several fumbles, mean there are some inaccurate parts - timing off, abrupt ending, missed or dodgy notes, etc., etc. That's okay - it's a starting point.

There are no excuses for the horrible screech on the high notes, though - I'm just bad at playing the high notes. Got to work on that. However, as this was the only take where I didn't black out from breathlessness, I went with it.

Anyway, a few questions:

- First, does anyone have a decent backing track that matches the actual song? Or hints on the structure - is it in 8 bar sections, for example? Couldn't figure this out.

- Second, Little Walter's version sounds a lot bluesier and dirtier than other versions I've heard, mine included. I don't have the ears to figure out whether this is a feature of the backing (more minor?), the context of the recording, or of his playing? It doesn't always sound like the 3 draw is bent further down, yet it definitely sounds blusier.

- Walter's sustained high notes sound gloriously dirty - how is he getting that sound?

- any other tips appreciated!

For reference, here’s Little Walter’s 9 and 10 blow:

If it’s of any use, here’s the backing...

I only hear one chord like Walter's Roller Coaster, but one chord is better than none, mara
