Do you block the air through the nose when bending? Can you bend while letting the air pass freely through your nose?

Most efficient use of air is to block the nose, thereby 100% of air is used for creating a note - even one through bending technique.

You can bend while letting the air pass through your nose, but it's not the best approach...

It takes so little air to sound a note and as there are many or several ways to get a note, that I usually don't worry if I let the excess air out one way or another.
But
I do try to make sure that the Mic doesn't pick any sounds of exhaling or inhaling for air and things like that, so breath control is important.

Sometimes you can hear people trying to force all their air through the blow notes, while others have such control that you would not notice one way or the other how they do it.
Good luck... happy playing however it works out for you.
