I haven't firmed up the details, but here is what I can tell you: Hill Country Harmonica: A Mississippi Blues Gathering will take place at the Foxfire Ranch in Waterford, Mississippi on May 22-23, 2010.

Jason Ricci will not be part of the event, sadly. I really hope he's able to participate next time. He'll be doing heavy touring this spring and I'm glad the world will get a chance to experience his gifts first hand.

In the past 24 hours I have gotten a firm commitment from Terry "Harmonica" Bean and have penciled in Bill "Howl-N-Madd" Perry after speaking at length with his agent. Brandon Bailey is in. Bill Hollowell, owner of the venue, is in. Satan & Adam are....well, I'll know about that soon. But all the signs are extremely good there, too.

I'm working on adding one more headliner. I believe I can get Billy Branch, but if he's not available, I have several other top prospects in mind.

The event will begin with a meetup at "the crossroads" in rural Lafayette County, Mississippi at 11 AM on the 22nd. This is to enable some of you crazy people who will be making long drives to get in the car at 5 AM and make the event. The event will conclude around midnight on Sunday the 23rd.

The event will be open to players of all levels. It will be reasonably priced. There is a campsite and motels nearby. Wives, GFs, and non-playing significant others--one per harper--will be welcome for a supplemental fee of around $50.

Thanks very much to all of you who weighed in. Please save the date! (Don't buy plane tickets, yet, though. We're still not at the formal-offering stage, and unforseeable disasters are still possible, although I'll be goddamned if I'm going to let them derail things now.)

And please accept my apologies for the raggedness so far. I've shared somewhat more of the developmental cycle with y'all up till now than most people would, out of a desire to let democracy--the public will--prevail. We'll be more streamlined from now on.

No questions, please! I will be saying nothing else about Hill Country Harmonica--and I mean NOTHING--until I am prepared to describe the final event, accept payment on it, and deliver it.

I have all the confidence in the world Adam!

I saw a documentary on public TV a while back about "The Making Of Woodstock"

The promoters lost the festival site after a court hearing about 30 days before the event scheduled date.

They found a new site just in time...got most of the stage built but had inadequate fencing to be able to collect entry fees. The investors lost a bunch of money but eventually broke somewhat even on after festival merchandise sales such as recordings.

Too many miles for me but would love to be in the Mississippi spring!

Well, having Jason there would have been great--but I would come just the same if Satan and Adam were the headliners, along with the rest of the proposed line-up. What I mean is--for me at least, you don't need more big-time stars than yourself, Adam--you rock!

Since this is no doubt going to be a Male Dominated event is there a red light district in the Mississippi Hill country or we gotta go all the way back to Memphis? Umm, Jon told me to ask (I woulda said Todd told me too but he's married)

haha...My wife will be joining me. I think Adam could open up a whole new vein of research into the history of deep South brothels...
