My Harp Break is giving me some trouble and I am getting a Joyo to model some distortion "until" I can address the HB. $30, why not. Any suggestions on where to put it? Currently I am: XoticEP>LW Octave>HB>LW Delay>Carbon Copy Delay>DI. Thanks!
There’s really no right or wrong way but typically you want to run distortion before delay. I know the American Sound is an amp sim so some people might like it at the end of the chain which may work ok for clean tones but if you’re cranking the gain up for distortion I don’t think it sounds good there.
I’d also be more apt to try running that boost after the Joyo and before the delays. Running it before distortion usually results in higher gain and running it after will normally give you a volume boost but the distortion will remain about the same. That only applies if you’re running them both at the same time. If you run them separate then the order don’t matter.
I bought the Joyo last year to use with guitar and it works great but I tried it yesterday on harp with my Memphis Mini amp and it sounded awesome. Best harp tone I’ve ever had. I only use that and analog delay and I’m extremely pleased with the tone. Best $30 I ever spent for a piece of gear.
Like I said there’s no definitive answer because it all depends on the type of sound you’re looking for. I would just experiment and see what sounds the best to you.

Haven't used the Joyo pedal, but here's my experience with the Lone Wolf Harp Attack into the PA. When the Harp Attack is placed before a delay for example the sound produced is good and has an edge to its sound that cuts through the mix very easily. The sound produced is very similar to a Fender 5F1 Champ. The same goes for when it's used without any other effects in the chain. When it's used with a delay though and is placed after the delay pedal then the difference to the sound is like night and day. The overall sound becomes much thicker, bassier and has a much bigger sound to it. I'd describe it as sounding like a Blackface Princeton Reverb or a Bassman RI. Along with my Ultimate 545 it is probably the single best bit of kit I've ever bought. The two together are really a great combination.
So my answer to your question really is to just try it in different places in the chain and see sound which you prefer.
I use one frequently, including just the other day. Here is a clip, although, I feel the harp is a bit low in the mix.
I used a similar rig and went EP Booster>Carbon Copy>American Sound, although, you could just as easily use the Carbon Copy last.
The order you listed should work just fine. Sometimes, pedals can be noisy and that might be a reason to move where they are in the chain. I found having the EP Booster next to the Carbon Copy to be noisy on my board. ---------- Mike My Website My Harmonica Effects Blog
Kingley, that is interesting to read. I will try this next chance I get. I’ve been using the HA direct to PA but will try with Delay and a 533. Must get a PS for the HA though.
SuperBee, I only tried it like that recently after reading the product page on Lone Wolf, even though I've had my Harp Attack for years. Tested it into an amp not a PA. Am trying into a PA tomorrow night. No reason to see that it won't act in the same way though. Until I read what Randall/Nathan put in the description on the product page I'd never even thought to try it that way and had always put the delay after it when using one. It was certainly an eye opener for me.
Just tried making a video of it using my 5F1 amp but as usual recordings don't really show the difference properly.

Thanks all. Takeaway, not surprisingly, is to try it a few places. The versatility of placement is pretty cool - as in there didn't seem to be a don't put it here or use it this way. I will report.
I have a rather dead -- but loud -- sounding Vox amplifier of the modern kind, and have now after several attempts managed to make it a bit more lively, as well as loud, using the Joyo. My chain is: Joyo AS -- Harp Octave -- TC E Flashback delay -- Vox.
Excepting the Vox this is also something I´ve used directly into PA, but then there was a lack of bottom raspiness that the Vox now produces (strangely enough ´cause it´s cheap crap), despite its gain and such being turned down to zero.

reporting Buzzy thing. But that's what I think of anything that purports to sound like a glorious tube amp. I have a herd of great ones. Still I search. I tried the Joyo and I think it does some things well. I only used a powered speaker which should be enough (yamaha DBR10). I'll use it with a fuil pa this weekend. I tried it before and after delay and there was a lot of difference in how it got along. I also had to push the level a lot more than I expected I would. I'll reserve judgement for now - except for one big surprise. Among the combinations I tried my Xotic EP by itself, with nothing but the mic, a JT shell with a Bulletini element, and it sounded exceptional. Crazy. I'm going to explore that more.

I've often wondered how an Xotic EP booster would sound direct into a PA. Have never had the chance to try an EP out yet. Would love to hear some audio/video of that exact setup. It's certainly an interesting idea.

You liked the the tone or the distortion in that combination?
Also, try the joyo just like an amp, low gain and so on. Maybe to much gain is the root of that buzzines. ---------- Sorry for any misspell, english is not my first language.
rogonzab & Kingsley, I'll try to record some later today (I'm in the US). I tried every setting I could think of and I did get some nice sounds out of the Joyo. I figured I needed to try it at a show and through the mixer to know more. The Xotic EP by itself just had a real nice curve and crunch to it. Crazy to see a pile of great pedals getting schooled by a pocket sized mini. I'll post - and some of y'all have one so try it too and see what you think.
