I'll be in Chicago next week and interested in any places to visit related to the blues and/or the harmonica. This can historical places or where to hear music. I only have a short time so I want to make it worthwhile.

Old Town School of Folk Music, room B1, on Monday nights: Joe Filisko's group class. He usually welcomes guests, and they go out for a beer afterwards. You'll get great advice, and hear some amazing players.

I would stay inside your hotel room, otherwise you run the risk of getting shot.

Buddy Guy's Legends. Too crowded for the likelihood of a shooter to hit you :-). Great music always.

To hear it, you need to go to Rosa's Lounge. It's where the best players go, and less touristy than Legends.

But while you're there, you need to visit 2120 So Michigan Avenue.

Are you friends with Joe Filisko on Facebook? I would message him and ask if you can attend. That would be the polite thing to do. Also, he doesn't expect to get paid, but I always donate $20 or so to the class.
