The lick starts at 4:08 and repeats then resolves at 4:18. I'm sounding like a wounded duck. Harp gurus...What's happening here? Be as specific or a philosophical as you like. Thanks in advance!

D harp
Slight bend on 3draw, to 4 draw bend, 4 draw
Repeat 4 more times
Roll of the final 4 draw down to 2 draw via the bent 3 draw

But, the 3’ 4’ 4 move is one action, so you hardly sound the 3’ but it’s there, immediately slide over to the bent 4 and let it rise to the unbent 4

So it’s one continuous rising tone.

That’s how I’m reading it anyway. Just walking up the street to my car. It’s 620 pm, I’m listening on the iPhone and trying to mimic on this D Marine Band. I don’t have a slowdown app or a playback for what I’m doing and I’m not Jerry Portnoy but it sounds about right to me.

I think it’s Portnoy on the record. He was probably playing this all tongue blocked back then but I expect it doesn’t matter how you do it.

Oh, I haven’t mapped the resolving lick but it shouldn’t be too hard to work out.

It's an approach to the 4 hole inhale (with a bit o' 5 hole inhale bleeding in) from below - slightly bent note not resolving to full 4 hole inhale alternating with the 3 hole inhale...this should give you a starting point to understanding what is going on there.

Yes, sitting and working on it for a while it became apparent just how bent the 4 stays through the lick.

Thanks to you both. Changed my approach based on your advise. Sounding much better. It's odd how this instrument can fool you at times.
