Last weeks I tried to improve my vibrato. I try throath vibrato, but when analyzing it, it seems I only do: suck - non suck - suck - non suck; blocking it slightly with my throath, not bending it...
It's the same muscles used when you try to gently clear your throat/make that machine gun sound when you were a kid...just engage them while inhaling and then slowly ease up on the "raggedness" until it smooths out.
It's always about "finesse - not force" ---------- The Iceman
From a different angle.... Try inhaling in huffs until your lungs are full and then exhale in huffs until your lungs are empty, repeat. All the while, with a harp in your mouth, breathing through the harp. One day (pretty soon actually), a pretty decent vibrato is there. The other stuff is just growling and snoring.
You can also try raising and lowering your jaw as you inhale. This is just another approach that appears to work while you perfect the other suggestions. Hope this helps -99
Did This quickly---C harp --Pinch down with mouth n throat tight---but draw from deep in throat softly---tilt harp upwards and pinch with throat---
the 3 draw 1st bend in cross harp is b3 of the key your in Try find first bend first, on three draw--- then try vibrato with pinch of throat n mouth---very rich sounding when u get it
Hint start out playing a slow legato triplet on blow and draw with a slight accent on the first not of each triplet. Get control over this by varying the speed. ----------
