----------Just a note to say that yesterday I turned 66 years of age and today I celebrate my 31st AA anniversary. Thanks to all here for an interesting, fascinating, funny and occasionally contentious source for advice, laughs and most of all, great harmonica music. Cheers to all. www.ted-burke.com

Congrats Ted! On both counts. You've been sober close to half your life now. I passed 31 in March and turned 63 in February. I am constantly aware that I would never have gotten to do music at the level I do it if not for finding my way to recovery. You and I are both miracles man. ----------

Yes. I listened to mostly jazz musicians, which helped me in phrase and intonation. And I began to experiment with different styles outside of strict blues and rock--swing jazz, country and bluegrass, reggae, hard bop, showtunes, pop tunes. I developed my ear over time, developed a better hear for learning tunes (despite a 30 percent hearing loss since youth). I am fundementally a blues rock player, albeit a verbose one, but I did become more versatile, cleaner. The biggest benefit of sobriety was realizing my limits and recognizing areas where I need improvement as a player. That process continues. ---------- www.ted-burke.com
