Hi,
I'm looking for an harmonica friendly preamp pedal with true tubes. Some advises?
Thanks, bye

Try a Butler Blue Tube if you can find one.

I have used the ART Tube MP preamp. It is a versatile box with a 12AX7 tube. I bought it to use as a DI box but mostly use it for a condenser mic that requires phantom power. ---------- MBH member since 2009-03-24

Sounds like what the Harp Attack was made for.

The first question should be: What are you trying to accomplish with a preamp pedal? Are you going through a PA or looking to embellish a guitar amp, or something else? These are details that are necessary to make a good choice. Once you pinpoint why you need a pedal, Lone Wolf (who makes the Harp Attack mentioned by Littoral) is a good place to at least start. Many tube and tube-like options. https://www.lonewolfblues.com/

I like the Lone Wolf Harp Attack -- for recording, and also for live performance through a PA system (with a DI box).

Georgia, good catch for the Butler Blue Tube! I'm looking into...
tomaxe: I'm looking for a preamp in order to use it with a speakers simulator. I'm working on a cabinet-free solution, pedalboard based solution with "no compromises" sound.
You can look at my actual configuration here:

Dox, I have them both and I find the Butler Blue Tube warmer and friendlier for lack of a better word. But... A lot depends on the totality of your signal train and it’s a close call.

I just started using a Harp Attack for rehearsals and might use it on a gig soon. Putting it in front of a pedal chain going straight into line level input on PA. I’ve heard samples of the HA making some harsh sounds and I think that’s mainly possible with too much clockwise twist on the drive control.

I often use the Harp Attack straight to pa for small gigs. The secret as Super alludes to, is to not push the drive control too hard. Mine never goes above 11 o'clock. On your PA you also want to push the lower mid frequencies. In front of a small amp the HA can be used to fatten up the tone but you need to have your tone and drive controls all the way off and just use the volume control. Too much on the volume control will send you into feed back hell.
