Last night I was invited to jam with some fellas playing buddy guy’ “Feels like rain”
They said “it’s in C” They were slack-tuned so C meant B. I tried an E harp but that sounded wrong. I tried an A harp, didn’t like that either. I tried a B harp just to confirm i it was in B and I wasn’t filled with confidence. I think I tried 5th position After that I just started trying all the harps because I figured I didn’t have the whole story. I hadn’t found a good fit by the time the song ended. Today, looking up the chord structure of the song I’m still not sure of the best way to approach it but I think I may have felt more comfortable if I’d treated it as being in F# (ie tuned a half step flat of G rather than C) but I’m still not really sure of the best approach. I’ve only seen a very basic chord chart. I have found zero examples of harp with the song. Does anyone here have some insight or can point me to an example?

Oh yeah I did the sensible thing and tried it in G (with the record) and it’s a piece of cake. So it just starts on the IV. I should have realised that when I tried the B harp but I was thinking 1st position and missed the obvious

We do that one, in G as a matter of fact. To me though it's more a kind of folky ballad. I use a G chromatic in 1st and it comes out pretty well. Friday we're going to play it out for the first time. Jo sings it a la Bonnie Raitt- sort of. We've been messing with that song for years and we think it's finally ready! ----------
