I hope this post is in the correct forum. Apologies if not.

I'm thinking about buying a Cosmocord Crystal mic with "Bakelite" body and a co-axial cord, (not 3-pin). While by no means a mic expert, I have never heard of this mic however after some research I found it was made in the UK. I have also never heard of a "co-axial" cord? Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks!

Co-axial simply means that the center conductor shares the same axis as the surrounding shield. Guitar cords and most high-impedance mic cables are co-axial so that's what you want.

I went a little bit harp mic nuts a few years back and felt like I had to try everything. I purchased a couple of ACOS Cosmochord mics, a model 33 and 36. The 33 had a dead crystal but the 36 sounded great with a lot of bottom end for a small diameter crystal. The 33 seemed like a real nice cupping mic for small hands. Keep in mind that the crystal is probably 60 or 70 years old though and don't pay too much.
