Hey guys,

I've fallen in love with this track by Greg Zlap. I'd really like to tab it out but honestly I'm stuck after the first chord rhythm. Sounds like it's played on an A. Does anyone have any idea what the tab might look like?

I recorded it--- may try to break it down later ,,I may buy his cds he has a very different style. Just tried to buy it, to support him and learn-- but its I tunes and a lot of bouncin around to buy it----will try later

Dont take this wrong ,
can u hum the 12 bar blues changes in your head? --in other words can u hear when a 12 bar song goes to the IV chord ? etc

Because Thats How I break a song down--What is he or she playing over the I chord---over the Iv chord----the V chord in the turnaround etc

When u learn it that way, u can take any licks being played in 1 blues song and play over the correct chord, in another blues song

When 1 song is fast and u transfer a fill from it, to a slow song . u have to invent a way to make it fit--this forces me to learn a lick then add and subtract from it

But it starts with hearing the chord changes in my head
Hes turnarounds are very different I want to buy n download his stuff
Thanks for posting--- found a new player to listen to

Great harp and guitar in that song.

Snowman thats exactly what I do. I am learning the slow song that Gussow is "famous" for on his YouTube channel right now, and I am up through the V (since he starts on the V chord) and then the | chord, and working on the |V now.

I've been trying to learn this song lately, also. But I do it by ear while I'm driving.

Me too! You should see the looks I get. I have the mp3 on a disc that I use to keep it fresh. I hope we don't get DWH's :)

Hey Snowman, thanks for the advice - yes I'm comfortable with the changes, that's what I do too, take a lick from here and there and find a way to make them fit together. Makes for good fun in the woodshed.

I've run it through ASD (incredibly useful and incredibly priced) and figured out the first 10s or so.

This is the main riff, it plays 3 times over in the first 7 seconds or so. The double bend on the 2 is accented and the -1 is a half note I think (my musical theory is pretty weak).

-(123), -(123), 2, -2'', -1, 2, -2'', -1, 2, -2''

Play it twice more with the extra -(123).

Then it changes for that nice bluesy drop. Hit the -3' hard.

-(123), -(123), 2, -2'' ... (123) -3'

I'll get back to it. Maybe someone can have fun trying to play this at full speed.

Hello all
First post. I play the harmonica for almost 2 years, read this forum for 1 year and decided it's time to register and post something now and then.

This topic is why i always read this forum; learn new things and discover new (harmonica) music. Thanks for Greg Zlab.

I use Audacity (open source) to slow down and change pitch (when i don't have the appropriate harmonica key), great program and free.

I'll tab out the theme (after intro), you can figure out the solo yourself ;-)

-(123), -(123), 2, -2'', -1, 2, -2'', -1, 2, -2'', -(123) [repeat]

4, 3, -(34), 4, 4, -(34), 4 [play tongue block/split]

-(123), -(123), 2, -2'', -1, 2, -2'', -1, 2, -2'', -(123)

-4, -1, -2'', -3'', 4, -3'', -3''', -2, -2'', -2', -2'', 2, -1, -2, -1, -2", -1/-1'

Have fun!
