SE Coastal GA, here. starting to hunker down. last year, our gourmet food production facility was in the one small strip mall that did not lose power with Hurricane Matthew in the whole county. Don't know if luck will hold out this time... ---------- The Iceman

so what happens if this gets to the gulf and picks up speed? no one is talking like that can happen. it looks to me like it is headed to Biloxi.

I don't want to be a pessimist, but the point about Harvey was that it stayed over the ocean for quite a long time picking up water. José seems to be doing just that, but I haven't seen anyone taking it seriously yet. Maybe the planes have measured its pressure and it's not that low. ---------- Andrew. -----------------------------------------

Andrew, Harvey had plenty of water, true. Then it sat on Houston. Add to it the fact that Texas builds whatever, wherever, however and a big problem gets giant. Now Texas needs help from other states. Yeah, we do that in this country. And some states don't just allow whatever, wherever, however. Irma? I'm right on the coast in the middle of the Florida panhandle. Watching by the hour.

Shifting westwards puts SE Coastal GA in a safer zone, but endangers more folk along W and Central Fl. We have relatives there and they are concerned. Tampa/St. Pete are in trouble. Their Tampa Bay is large body of water, but in the middle the max depth is 20 feet - so, any storm surge will be devastating. ---------- The Iceman

It seems José will stay out to sea, possibly hitting Bermuda. ---------- Andrew. -----------------------------------------
