A few gigs a year I play in a duo with a friend of mine, Matt Stewart, who is a talented guitar player and singer. We have fun and essentially jam for 2 or 3 sets, taking turns singing. While I sing half the songs, this is one he sang.
This recording shows my approach to accompaniment while backing a singer and guitar. I don't chug chords or even stay in the blues scale. Chords and octaves are used. My performance is not flawless, but, hey, it was live improvised music! It was recorded live through a recorder placed on a table at the gig. The PA was dead when we arrived at the venue, so we made do with amps. Luckily a Fishman Loudbox was available for vocals and guitar and I had my "sit-in amp in my truck.
Pictures were added to make it a "video" so I could post it unlisted on my YouTube account and share some music.
Yes, he is a far better guitar player than I am a harp player. I do OK, but...
I hope others post audio or video of their performances. I enjoy hearing what people on the forum are doing. Lately it seems that only a few have shared their music. ----------
Great tune. The guitar playing was good and your partner sings really well. I thoroughly enjoyed your harmonica playing and also thought your backing harp playing was tasteful. Thumbs up! ---------- Tommy
Okay, you asked examples of playing. I just finished the video. It is said that this is the sadest blues in the world. I have not heard others playing this with harmonica. https://www.facebook.com/DustyHoundBb/videos/304256963373249/
