My name is Jamie. I am 44 and live on Long Island in New York. I have been playing since about 2004. A coworker gave me a promotional harmonica that my company was giving away to promote Nashville Star. He challenged me to learn it and thus began my harmonica journey.
Though I have been playing for the past 13 years, my level of skill is not where I would like it to be, let alone where it should be. I carry at least one harmonica with me most of the time but I have not put the time in at the woodshed required to really excel. I plan to rectify that because I really do love this instrument.

Welcome, and not to nitpick but it goes "Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself." Well, maybe you're not a Stones fan..lol.
I feel your pain as far as playing. I'm sort of in the same boat. Well, a similar one.
Welcome. ---------- Tommy

There are a lot of great resources right here. Adam Gussow has helped thousands of players step up and improve. There are also a lot of accomplished players here who give freely of their knowledge.
We all started from the same place. Some of us- me included- took a long time to really dig in. But it is never too late to get busy.
Welcome! ----------

Tommy, I almost wrote a Rhyme to the theme of Humpty Hump for the post but decided against it. In addition to a mountain of books I have used Adam's YouTube channel as well as many others. I have also used this site and its resources as well, though I just became a member of the forum.

Yea, I've been there. Actually I just came back to this forum after 5 or 6 years away from it and the harp. I picked up the harp in 1989 or 90 and studied hard. Learned a lot. But then it was on and off after that mostly off. I may only have 3 years actual playing time. Less? I bit more? I don't even know. But now I look through instructional resources and find I can do all that stuff already. Tongue block, pursing, chugging, splits warbles, octaves whatever. I can copy most anything too. But somehow my playing just isn't right. Too much of that and not enough putting it all together maybe? I don't know... but I am a singer so I know music and I know that my harp isn't right! So I'm back! Tryin' to figure "ME" out. Have fun. ---------- Tommy

Crazy bunch of good stuff here. Try not to let the occasional idiot run you off. They'll go away. Forum Search is an essential tool. It's in a tab under Blues Forum, on the left. Much of what you could possibly want to know is there. You have to experiment sometimes with your specific text query to filter to the results you're looking for. You can always just ask but that search function is a gold mine.

Thanks Littoral. I did not notice the search link until you mentioned it. I had been using "site:www.modernbluesharmonica.com " from google.
