I'm thing of purchasing an 64 Alamo Montclair (2 6v6's 12 in speaker). Good price and already re capped. Does anyone have any info /experience with this amp ?

Alamo amplifiers are probably among the most underrated American instruments, and the older tube amps, while never powerhouses, are especially worth seeking out if you like that classic, warm sound

There is a pretty detailed schematic on schematicheaven.com. I would go over to the lone wolf blues forum and post this info and you will get a very good answer. There are a few very experienced guys over there.

I have a mid 60s Alamo Fury tube amp with a single 15 in it. It's a garage sale find (along with an Alamo guitar I sold for more than double what I paid for both). I gigged with it on and off for 3-4 years. It has a great bottom end and plenty of power but it was a touchy feedback monster. I still have it and play bass through it when I occasionally sit in with a county band who gives me a fill in call once in a while.
