Saw a homeless guy at a bus stop on Ventura Blvd. He had a brand new Recording King parlor guitar with the tag still hanging off of it - $199 from Guitar Center.

I went over and congratulated him on his new blues box. He showed me his Mississippi John Hurt tab book. He was learning finger style songs and showed me one.

Out of nowhere, he told me he can't control his thoughts, and sometimes he wants to shout out the n-word or the a-word. It bothered him - he was embarrassed. I told him he could get that treated, and a lot of people are affected.

I mentioned I play blues harp, and told him about the local blues jam at the Maui Sugar Mill Saloon. Told him to come by and we'd jam. Hope he shows up - maybe I'll see him around the neighborhood.

Always nice to meet another blues lover, and I should have been carrying a C harp!
