Just for fun I thought I would put this up here and maybe get some good ideas.
Yesterday I got a new 7 week old Pocket Pitbull. I'm trying to think of a good name for her. Something Blues oriented. She will stay pretty small. (30 lbs)
I don't have a way to add pictures here, but she's brown with a white head and a patch on her one eye. I'll put a picture up on Modern Blues Harmonica Facebook page. Even though the point of putting this in this forum is for those of you who dint have Facebook, but .....
Let's hear what you got.

Congrats on the new member. It's cool to see you are already having fun together with the name hunt. Being a smaller Pitbull the name "Minnie" comes to mind. Minnie Wallace being one of the first blues harp gals, recorded in 1929...
You could add one of Minnie Wallace's numbers to your repertoire and use her and your dog stories to connect with the audience...
Of course with the eye-patch marking you could go with any number of "Blind-dog" names.
Or you could go with something a little more direct like "Three-Hole-Half-Step-Bend". But that doesn't roll off the tongue real great.
---------- It's about time I got around to this.

Dogs are natural harmonica players; they practice their licks all day long (they're not much for tongue blocking though)

Cute dog killa! I had a couple ideas but I think Melody is the best one I had. As in Golden Melody or Blues Melody or music has a Melody.

Some good ideas here. Small mama Thornton is good. I hadn't thought of Brownie McGhee.
I think the list right now is... Muddy (Mudd) Caledonia (Cali or Donia) Koko Ludella (LuLu) Cotton Bailey (DeFord Bailey) Melody
I really wanted to name her Shakey or Mummbles, but the old lady shot em down. Or Marion for Marion walter jacobs.
Keep em comin. I know there's some more I haven't thought of.

fun thread! I have a dog named Melody so I'm familiar with the idea of a musically inspired dog name.
I would add +1 for Minnie. Harp themed, nice name and if she begs for scraps you can call her Minnie the Moocher

Little Lady after the Hohner Little Lady harmonica.
I believe this was the harmonica played by an astronaut on the first moon mission so you could go with a moon theme and call her Luna.

Just call him Walter, that way you cover two of the best harp players that ever lived.

I think Mini would be a great name due to the dog being female and a pocket pit bull.

I know it is not a harp name (or a female name), but I have a 14 year old Maltese Shih Tzu named Buddy...after Buddy Guy.

people will look at you weird when you call your dog but the constant reminders will guarantee improved tone and technique
