Compliments. Very nicely done -- on all parts. My impression is that the harmonietta is considerably more pleasing to the ear than the melodica (the skill factor shall not be forgotten!)and a melodica can easily be purchased for not a whole lot of money; but the harmonetta production is discontinued since several decades. The few specimens I see are outrageously expensive. Isn“t that something of a shame?
Hey KC69, I'd love to chat about Harmonetta with you and do indeed give Skype lessons...I'm from Los Angeles. Let me know what you're thinking! An easy way to get in touch with me is via Facebook. ---------- Ross Garren
I like the trombone in there also. You can see the piece is on the right side of the circle of fifths as the trombonist keep reaching way out for that 7th position B natural. Although I will admit, 7th position on the harmonica is a lot harder than 7th position on a trombone!
Thanks Ross: I do not have a Facebook account, but maybe after Harmonicollege in WVA. this weekend we can connect. My e-mail is on my profile. I play a little keyboard, read a little music, make a stab at Chromatic, and get the just of the Harmonetta. Saying that to say this; I got a lot to learn!!! But I do want to learn!!! ---------- And I Thank You !! KCz Backwoodz Bluz
I love the instrumentation, the vocals, and the overall vibe of this Waits cover! Your playing is of the high standard I have come to expect in your performances.
The only change I would suggest is to raise the level of the harmonetta in the mix just a bit, not so much as to overpower the leads or vocals, just to give it more presence in the overall sound.
This opinion is based on listening to the YouTube video through headphones on a laptop, so the actual mix may already be good.
Great job, great group of musicians! ----------
