In December, I had a really proud "Dad moment"... I was able to have my son come play a gig with my band. He's a piano player and has really started to like blues, boogie-woogie, and that Professor Longhair New Orleans sound.
I'll say so. Holly smokes! How is it I am just finding out about you now. I mean I seen you do some of them old songs, which were great. But had no idea you did that. Very impressive. Thanks Cliffy
Edit: Tell your son great job too.

Thanks so much to everyone who dug it! Matthew is 15. He's been playing piano for five years, though up until now he hasn't played or been interested in any blues.
He mostly played classical and some Billy Joel or Ben Folds (the Ben Folds is my influence, I'm a huge BFF fan), but this year he started learning some basic boogie-woogie stuff off of YouTube. So every time we went in the car somewhere, I started playing blues songs with lots of piano. Otis Spann, Pinetop Perkins, Professor Longhair, Honey Piazza, etc. I also snuck in some Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal to get some jazz in there, too. I guess some of it sunk in!
Matt loved playing with the band (that was his first time ever, he never even got to rehearse with us because well, we never rehearse). So now I have to try to book some more gigs on Fridays so he can play with us.
That's really nice, you must be proud indeed. I listened in work and didn't really look at the video but heard the audio so I didn't spot he was so young! Nice stuff from him.
Hey, really nice acoustic tone too on the recent amp demo video. ---------- blintgy video
