Well as far as practice amps go.
Vox makes two low cost amps that i love.
The DA5, which is solid state, but its battery powered OR 9v plug in, it has adjustable wattage, onboard effects, a seperate input on the back with its own volume that can be used for mp3 input, vocals, etc. Also the amp models are pretty decent. Its a great lil practice amp.
Another is the Vox AC4TV Mini. 5 watt tube amp. El84 and 12ax7 ( i use a 5751) This is a closed back amp that also has adjustable wattage. Its got great tone and doubles well as a head when plugged into an extention cab. 5 watts is still pretty loud for low level practice. The 1.5 watt setting is great. Theres also a Ton of mods you can do to this amp if you wish. Mine is stock .(other than NOS tubes. ) but i have heard a modded ac4tv and it sounded awesome.
Anyways i know it's not what you asked, but i figured i would mention them.
