I feel very fortunate to be kicking off the New Year with two of the Northwest finest blues harp players, Curtis Selgado and Hank Shreve.

Somehow we booked them at our small town event hall in Florence, Oregon.

I feel pretty confident that I could meet them briefly for autographs. I would like to get nice looking and long lasting signatures.

I don’t want to be annoying but I was thinking of bringing a classic Marine Band and a paint pen instead of the typical Sharpie. I just think Sharpies turn out looking kind of blue and faded.

Is that idea too annoying or does it express the care that I have for the signature?

I'd like to hear any other suggestions for pens that work well on harp covers?

*The paint pen is something I could shake and depress to charge the tip then it works pretty similar to a Sharpie. I've lightly scuffed the covers with a Scotch Brite pad.

Thanks folks

"Is that idea too annoying"?

Man, I don't think anyone would be annoyed by you showing how much you appreciate them and their music by taking extra care to get a long-lasting and beautiful signature.

I DO think that you should also buy them a round of drinks, too.

Don't know if Curtis is into booze anymore. A nice soda water w/cranberry juice might work, though.

Thanks Marc that was my thought too but it's nice getting a second opinion, especially from someone who has signed a few himself. I hope you have a great 2017.

Thanks Iceman I think you are right. I know Curtis has a transplanted liver from cancer, and in another round part of a lung removed. He also has a pretty busy tour going on so he must be taking good care of himself.

Maybe I'll offer to pack some gear...

Happy New Year

It was a blast sharing the 2017 kick off with the Curtis Selgado group and the Shreve Duo.

I’m sorry to say I didn’t get a chance to meet Hank Shreve. Congrats to his fantastic performance and upcoming competition in Memphis at the 2017 International Blues Challenge!

Curtis Salgado was one of the most gracious guys I’ve ever meet. I’m so glad I brought the haps and paint pen. I was blown away by his appreciation for my autograph request.

After really looking over my work on the harps, he asked then actually jammed on the vintage Marine Band for a while.

The memories and autographs are absolute treasures.

Happy New Year
