Today, December 30th, marks the 6th anniversary of the sale of my very first harmonica comb. It’s kind of an odd thing to celebrate but it is a milestone for me. We have come a long way. Six years ago, I started out selling only two different products on eBay. Now, I offer over 300 different combs plus a wide variety of harmonicas via my website. Blue Moon is both a Hohner Dealer and a Suzuki Dealer. 2016 has been a wonderful year. Every facet of my business has grown – Custom Combs, Harmonicas, Double Reed Plate Harmonicas, Pre-War Restorations and Powder Coated Covers. In addition, I am blessed to have the priviledge of acting as an Agent for Sonny Terry Estate LLC as we preserve and honor Sonny’s legacy.

It has also been a tremendously busy year for me. There comes a time, in the life of every successful one-man operation, where you are maxed out. There just are not enough hours in the day to keep up with everything. And so, you are forced to make changes which will improve efficiency and increase production. Over the past few months, I have been lining up resources which will not only help me do more, but will also improve quality. It is the best of all worlds. This will give me time to follow through on several projects I have been working on but have had to push to the back burner simply because I am so busy filling orders.

This includes a few new materials for combs such as a Linen Grade Phenolic, Black Nickel Plated Aluminum, Silver Plated Brass and additional Exotic Hardwoods. I have made prototype of them all and they look great.

I will also be introducing a line of very high quality Custom Harp Cases. I’ve been working hard on this project. There is a tremendous amount of detail that has gone into this design. I’m very excited about it.

Jason Ricci and I are designing Custom CNC Milled Covers which will be combined with the Black Nickel and Silver Plated combs to create a custom harp based on the Suzuki Manji reed plates. I am very excited about this, as is Jason.

And finally, I will be offering a Designer Series “Ready to Go” line of harmonicas. Here to fore every harp I offer is made to order. You pick the brand, the model, the key and the comb and I build it. It takes time. It creates a bottle neck and delays. I will continue to offer this option however I will also be offering small batches of readymade harps that will be built by skilled craftsmen to exacting standards. These will be available for immediate delivery and will carry the same 100% Satisfaction Guarantee that all Blue Moon products carry.

In closing, I would be remiss if I did not express my thanks to all of you who support Blue Moon Harmonicas. This includes, of course, customers but also the many artists who endorse Blue Moon. Last but not least, I want to thank Adam Gussow who allows me to hang out here and be a part of this community.

Happy New Year to all.
