This is my favorite version with one of my favorite licks in it. It's fun to play and great exercise in holding notes and controlling your breath. Just try it - it's even more fun with a crazy delay. Lick starts at 1:10

i remember buying that record, it may heave been just for that song. maybe not, it had all his hits on it.

walter is just playing the melody on the riff. it sounds like it is an overdub, i never notice that before.

thanks for posting that.

Are there other recordings where he holds a note like that?

It does kinda sound like an overdub now that you mention it.

In my mind his great held notes with that shakey vibrato, is one of his most admirable qualities. I know he's not doing that here. Im just sayin. Off the top of my head i can't think of any solid held notes. Accept maybe the 4 draw on the second verse of "Have a good time" on the carey bell record.

Check out the version of Easy on "An offer you can't refuse. " Absolutely Killer. That whole albumn is actually.

Thanks, @Killa - "Easy" is a good one for me to practice on. I can do it with or without the hand vibrato.

Not sure why you are interested in how long he holds his notes. but he does so here a little bit.

big walter played very melodically, more so than little walter.

this is obviously miss labeled

@1847 I just like that style - sort of like doing a wail as long as possible. Sometimes I'll try to see how long I can hold a single note - you can tongue slap, do a real long gentle bend, hand vibrato, etc.

I've done some circular breathing, but not consistently.

For the record Valley Duke, thats throat vibrato. Not hands.

@Killa Thanks - I'll practice that, too. Found a good video lesson from Will Wilde for "Easy".
