For all the US citizens, Roger was the lead singer of a very unusual and creative British rock band in the 60 - 70's called Family.
His vocals are an acquired taste, having been described as a powerful goat bleating.
Years after Family broke up, Roger relocated to Germany where he continues to perform and record - one group was called Roger Chapman and the Shortlist.
However, I just discovered a wonderful recording called Roger Chapman and the Riff Burglars - The Legendary Funny Cider Sessions.
Never heard Roger recorded so clearly and the band, as usual, is excellent. This record has Roger singing country, big band swing, some great blues - Wang Dang Doodle and especially Sonny Boy's "Bring it on Home". (Roger's vibrato is not too different than Sonny Boy's, it turns out). Sounds like the whole band is having a ball in the studio.
So much fun that I had to share this with those on the list who are "in the know" and appreciate highly unusual creativity. ---------- The Iceman
