Gloth, a member here in 2010, started a thread about UK player Errol Linton, and it went nowhere. I'll try again.
He feels to me like the Charlie Sayles of UK blues harp. Long time on the streets. Not a huge technician, but great timing, very good sound--better in his later clips--and something I can only call a great feel for the heart of the music. He knows how to spin it out and make something new. That's a rare talent.
Here's a documentary when he'd only been playing for three years. Were YOU that good after three years? I wasn't:
I wasn't that good after 10 years. But,i find his acoustic stuff, good but really nothing that special. This clip is where he is playing 'cupped' and amped, still nothing spectacular but good solid playing.

Thanks for the vids - I like his band. Real piano, and the tone from that SG is perfect. Plus, "Stressed Out" sounds like an original song. Give it up for new, original blues songs.
I really enjoyed that. Yet another example of less being more.
He's also a good singer.
Yesterday I went to the first night of a blues festival. Not a lot of harp so far, but a few over-the-top, show-off guitar players. Ego first, music second. No space to breath.
And people seemed to love it... I wondered if I was just in the wrong mood. For a while I wondered if my tastes had just drifted away from the blues.
Then Mavis Staples and her band came on and brought me to my senses. Great singing, unhurried delivery, right in the groove.
Anyway, I think Linton has a lot of that going on. Thanks for posting.
