As one might imagine, my involvement with the Sonny Terry Estate Harmonicas has sparked some interesting conversations with a variety of people. The byproduct of one of those conversations was an idea to put together a Sonny Terry Tribute at SPAH. It was a little bit last minute but I am happy to announce that we have pulled it together. The times slot is less than ideal – Saturday at 8:30AM but there isn’t much else going on at that time and we have a fantastic lineup of Joe Filisko, Peter “Madcat” Ruth, Grant Dermody and Will Scarlett. Of course we will be featuring Sonny’s music but the artists will have the option of performing on some of Sonny’s actual harmonicas. I hope those of you who will be at SPAH will consider attending the performance.

Big thanks to Donald Ceasar for posting some video clips from the Sonny Terry Tribute. Doc Shama had his high quality video equipment on hand and recorded the entire performance. He warned me that it takes some time to process the video but I expect that I will be getting a copy when it is ready. Int he mean time, here's some cell phone footage which I shared on my FB page.
