OK, so I got a Masco MA 60 in pristine condition with some new caps and wiring adjustments… 1/4" input/outputs. Sounds pretty good so far. Right now it has a heavy 60 cycle hum and was set up for guitar. I have access to a local tuba amp repair guy with great cred. What I 'm looking for from you guys is suggestions on what changes to make to max this puppy for harp.
All suggestions appreciated!

The 60hz hum brings that "some new caps" into question.
I might pack that one up real good and send it to Skip Timmons and tell him you want to play harp through it. If you do that, you will never again have to wonder about getting a better sound out of it. You might putz around with the "local tuba amp repair guys":) for years and hundreds of $$$ and still wonder if it's right.
Nice score on the amp!

The hum may be due to bad power supply caps or could be a grounding, wire routing, component, AC power issue. Hum can be a real bitch to cure! Skip Simmons (proper spelling) has his own circuit for harp the way I understand it. Amps for guitar, are a different setup then, amps for harp. One thing for sure, if you get that Masco right, you will be heard! Good luck with it...BN

Would love to see a picture. I have a vintage Masco Amp, but it has no identification numbers. It has its original blue and gray cover. I guessing its a 5 watt. I also own an MU-5 Masco that doesn't hold a candle to the blue one. The guy wanted to sell it to me for a huge price of $1.00, I gave him a hundred! ---------- And I Thank You !! KCz Backwoodz Bluz

Thanks for the input. I heard from Skip Simmons and his best advice is to take this 60 watt beast back to stock and find a stadium to play it in. Further updates as I learn more.

OK, just gigged it and had a great time. Steve Hunter here in Athens tuned it up and it sounds better than any amp I've ever played through. Great clarity compared to my other amps. Pedals are harp shield, ibanez delay and butler blue tube. Appreciate the advice from you guys.
