It's called "Down the Road" and it is not recent, but part of his vast discography.
I've always enjoyed his particular sound, steeped in Celtic mysticism as well as a solid old style R&B w/horns, etc.
Van also plays harmonica with a simplicity and honesty that works for me, even though he sometimes plays notes or chords that do not sync with the underlying chords.
This release has some of the more traditional sounding blues tunes as well.
A nice change of pace for the ears. ---------- The Iceman
I'm partial to "Magic Time". It was a gift and the only VM CD I own but it's one of the few I can listen to from beginning to end.
Edit to clarify: I don't mean to imply that MT is the only VM CD I enjoy all the way through. It should read that it is one of ALL my CDs that don't raise a hackel at some point during play.

My fellow countryman and absolute favourite artist, for a time. See if you can get him on Martin Scorcese's Red White and Blues on Youtube, there are two vids, Rambler's Blues and Trouble in mind. They are both somethin' else, the best blues singin' you'll ever hear a white man doin' in my opinion. Big up Van the Man!
P.s forgive my ignorance of video embedding craic, happy listenin'!
Here's a track in which Van plays full on diatonic chord with plenty of tongue action. Once again, not all chords he plays are compatible with the underlying chord structure of the tune, but it is so unabashedly "No Doubt" style playing that it works for me.
How about some cool chromatic train song playing??
both cuts are from Magic Time recording. ---------- The Iceman
