My 270 comb cracked, and I acquired a prewar 270 which also had a 3 piece comb, so I took the plunge on a couple of BPs 3D-printed combs.
I installed them yesterday, and vey pleased with the results. The prewar is still without wind savers but plays "quite" well as is. A few reeds a bit on the quiet side. It's even fairly well-tuned. I'd say it was not getting much use for a long time. Many wind savers were still in place but they were leather and dried/curled.
Re wind savers, I'm buying the product from Hohner.
I haven't done much with chromatics re reed work before. I know there are some here with considerable experience. In general is the approach similiar to that used with diatonics? Any particular quirks to take account of?
Thanks
