I haven't seen it mentioned here, but Jason Ricci has just re-released his first album "Jason Ricci" in digital form. Originally recorded in 1995, it offers a chance to hear him from the early days of his career, when he was a mere mortal.

It's pretty cool. You can hear elements of his style in there, but you can also imagine any number of harp players sounding like that. Only later did he develop his unique vision, and the chops to support it. It's also all blues, unlike his later forays into rock, jazz, funk, and punk, so the blues purists might find it more to their liking.

You can order it from CD Baby here, and I expect from other outlets (itunes, amazon, etc) as well.

Garry i saw this when it came out. I like it simply because it's more my actual playing speed. He said he was only playing 5 or 6 years when he did the album. Most other albums (regardless of player or style) are of artists who have decades under their belt. So the licks and abilities in this album just seem very attainable.

Plus its just cool to hear early ricci.
