Looks like they both belong in the scrap heep! I wonder how many ended up there only to make the surviving examples coveted by the seekers of tone!
Strange, wong cab??

Oh but they are things of beauty! Hey- that little Les Paul Jr. is actually pretty clean. It's pretty much the same as a tweed era Champ - at 1/4 of the cost. Gibson's are still undervalued compared to Fenders, - though the bigger ones are appreciating quickly. Just picked up the little one on Craig's List for $350. Not a steal, but they are going for twice that on Reverb.com - and I have nothing that sounds better. The bigger one is a GA20 and it's the shit too. The little one will give up the tone at conversation level volume. I think I'll wire in a line out - that way I can treat it as the ultimate 'tube screamer' pedal - it's almost as easy to carry around.
The pic on the sound clip is an old bassman - it's my default on soundcloud icon and I haven't bothered to change it. ---------- http://noamsmusic.tumblr.com

OK, I kinda thought it was a cover pic.
I have the same GA-20 Two Tone. OEM speaker and OT, PT changed. I am reworking the circuit. Will use the original Gibson mic preamp for jack 1. Jack 2 will have the Gibson Maestro preamp circuit using the 5879 pentode. Jacks 3/4 will use Fender cathode bias with pad on 4. I have the schematic drawn up and finally figured out how to fit it all in the small chassis. Will use back to back turret boards with shielded insulator between to eliminate cross talk. This will give the amp three distinct voices. Should be an interesting project...BN Yes, that little Gibby is sweet. Your Two Tone looks better then mine. LOL

Barry - All the coolest cats got rope for handles. - Quite the ambitious re-wiring project. As long as you can still dial in the original tone, - what the heck. I'd love to hear sound samples once you get it done. Is that a reverb tank on the back??
Personally, I'd work up your franken-amp as new project from scratch, and keep the ugly beast original as is. For my playing style-the original is a good as it gets, though it is kinda one-trick pony- it's the trick that does it for me. Why mess with vintage perfection?
I wired in a line out on the LP Jr. and it works, but I get some not so nice distortion and the bottom half of the waveform looks clipped. I'll start a new thread on that issue another day. I used this as a guide with same value R's http://www.rru.com/~meo/Guitar/Amps/Kalamazoo/Mods/ezlo.html Had the same issue with a line out on the Lone Wolf 6L6SE. May just get a senn. e609 mic and forget the line out - but it would be nice if I could get it to sound good.

Ya, reverb tank. Now gone. That was from the PO. This amp has real low voltage (30V) to the plates on three of the inputs, screwy setup. The mic input is the only one anyone uses. I would have liked to run it stock until I started checking component values. Everything in the amp was off spec so I gutted her out! The existing replacement PT is oversize. I bought a proper replacement from Magnetic Components. Not sure which PT I will use. I should still get the original tone of the old mic channel as I will use the same Mic circuit on input one. The 5879 circuit is the one I'm excited about. Pentode inputs sound great for harp!...BN
