WOW! That's Exactly what I needed with my coffee this Mornin'. That was great. You can tell that's Carey's Son for sure. I dont know much about John Primer, but you can bet after that I'll find out.
Anyone know what kinda mic Steve was using? The XLR sticks straight out? Kinda peculiar.
Imma check that Album out too.
Thanks For Posting That Bro. I can even say how much that just made my mornin'. Killer.
Edit: 2Chops, You Took The Words Outta My Mouth. Lol. ----------

Great stuff!. That is the way I like to hear the blues - no one going nuts, tasteful and soulful. The song is the star. I really like the drummer and bass player, too. Thanks for posting.
Carey also had another son named Tyson who played harp just like the old man did, who I saw when Carey and Lurrie Bell were on tour together in the 80's. Like his old man, Tyson was just playing straight thru the PA. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
This is an object lesson in modernizing the blues. The funky groove that Primer has thrown on Muddy's song is nothing like the slow rolling groove of the original:
Glad you all enjoyed it as much as I did, I thought John and the whole band were great. Just don't know how I wasn't aware of Steve. @killa-I was wondering about that mic as well buddy. Agreed Adam! In a similar vein I have always liked this Eric Clapton modernized version of Crossroads, though in this case he has gone for slow funky groove.
well i don't know what mic. that is, but carey bell more times than not.... did use an amp. same with james cotton. they just did not overdrive them like some of us. ---------- .
Ive been massing with a few different amp sounds. I kinda like one way ive been doing it. Higher Mids, A slight roll up on the highs, and set it to right before Over Drive. So single notes sound crispy, but Tongue Slaps give you that OD Punchy sound. There so many ways to do it. But I'm kinda getting wore out on the "Sound" as it were. Im liking to mix it up a bit. ----------
Yea Adam, but i like that. Modernization is not always a good thing. And depending your connection with the origional and your feelings toward the blues purist, you may not like this version. But i Loved It. ----------
Just got email from my long time customer Artie Goldklang:
"Greg I can not seem to logon Please tell them the mic Steve Bell is using is Carey Bell's old mic which was made for him in Europe Carey's name is engraved on the side He showed to me many years ago Called it his "home brew" Artie"
