Just a plug for Greg's (16:23 Custom Harmonicas) great service. I ordered a set of stainless steel reeds to upgrade a Seydel Pro Soloist (Key of C) on Saturday, and had them on Monday. Also, after I installed the reed plates I found the 2 blow was choked. I tried gapping it with only temporary success (became choked again) so I called Greg. He told me that this can happen because of the way the reeds are packaged by Seydel, and that a lot people have trouble with gapping these reeds the first time. You have to be a bit more forceful than with brass reeds. He also sent me a great Youtube he had done on gapping stainless steel reeds. Anyway, with his direction, I got that reed working and the harp is very good. For me, the rest of the reeds played easily and were in tune. I like the look and feel of the comb in the Pro Soloist, but I will have to wait to see how long the reeds last. I know a number of people have complained about them failing relatively quickly. Most of my gigging harps are Marine Bands or Crossovers, but I do like these Seydels, as wel,l now having tried a couple of them.
