Loving melodies, and struggling with diatonic harps. I've asked a bunch of questions here and have received a huge amount of very helpful advice.
There were those who suggested switching to a chromatic and although it didn't excite me, I've learned to consider advice before I say no.
I wrote to Greg Jones at 16:23 Harmonicas in Texas to learn more about the Seydel Saxony chromatic and he answered me a couple of hours later. He suggested I try something else and gave his reasons. I have my new harmonica in my hands and it's so much fun, and sounds wonderful in a sweet mellow sort of way.
It's a Seydel Session Steel Orchestra Solo that he has retuned. It's a 10 hole which is basically tuned like a chromatic (I believe) without the slide so it's more basic I guess you would say.
It's lovely, It sounds great, already I can play tunes I never could find on my diatonic and what surprised me is how nice it is to bend, whine and wail. Another thing to note is the high notes are so easy to play and very clear which is sweet for my damaged hearing. It's almost as if this is the harmonica that has been looking for me, if that makes any sense!
Many have talked about the holes being different on the Seydel but I haven't noticed that part yet, probably because I'm re:imprinting my brain to learn the different tuning. And the comb on this is a darkish lovely red which pleases me but mostly it's the playing and the sound that I like.
Greg and I have written back and forth several times and I've got to say that he's exceptional to deal with and I'm a super happy camper.

I'm having so much fun, it's hard to put this harp down, the logic just makes so much sense, the way it's laid out, add that to the sound I get to make. I just want to make music and that's what I'm going to do.
