Rick Danko & Paul Butterfield - Live From The Blue Note, Boulder Co. 1979
Label: Floating World | Tracks: 12 | Rls.date: 2016
RICK DANKO was and will forever be known as one of the three singing members of THE BAND as well as their bassist.
Their principle lead singer on their classic first album and was the second of the members to join the group, THE HAWKS back in the day backing RONNIE HAWKINS and later of course BOB DYLAN.
PAUL BUTTERFIELD a Blues legend in his own right, teamed up with DANKO in 1979 at The Blue Note to record this amazing set.
BUTTERFIELD handles lead vocals on Born in Chicago and Lost My Best Friend , whilst ex-BEACH BOY BLONDIE CHAPLIN takes lead on Semolina and on their interpretation of THE BEACH BOYS classic Sail on Sailor.

I haven't heard it before, but I'm hearing it now! Edit: Video does not play in the order of the track list above. Starts with "I Love You" and then goes to "Stage Fright"
Anyone know any history on the song Semolina? I've tried to track down any other recordings of it but to no avail or even who wrote it. I dig what Paul does with the harp though.
Saw those two at San Diego's Cannibal Bar located in the Catamaran Hotel. Danko, of course, was magnificent both as bassist and singer and Butter was a text book example of what we mean when we say "genius". ---------- Ted Burke tburke4@san.rr.com
