Hello, Can anyone help me out on the wiring of a mic? I have a lo z Shure controlled magnetic transducer model number 99C86 HA. I want to connect it to a 3 pin xlr male connector for use as a vocal mic. So the xlr connector has 3 wires but the element only has 2. Therefore my confusion LOL.
Thanks

Standard low-Z wiring is called "Balanced mode" wiring. The element's output goes to the wires that lead to pin 2 and pin 3 on the XLR connect at the other end of the cable. Technically Pin 2 is the "positive" terminal but this is very much NOT critical if you're not sure which is the "positive" terminal on your element. (On a Shure CM, looking at the back, with the terminals at the bottom, positive is the left one.) Pin 1 is the cable's shield and should reach the metal of the shell, but is not part of the signal path.
