Hi Barley Nectar, this doesn't answer your question directly, but I like its predecessor, for what it's worth.

My gigging amp is a '95 Fender Blues Deluxe. I didn't like its sound when I got it. I modified it with a 2X10 speaker configuration instead of the stock 1X12. The speakers are from the 70s. The original power tubes have been replaced by two TAD 6L6WC tubes, and the preamp tubes have been replaced by tubes from the '60s. One of them is a 12AY7, which replaced the 12AX7 that was supposed to be in there.

Anyways, with that configuration, I'm very happy with the sound. I suspect the Blues Deluxe RI could also benefit from 2X10 speaker configuration. The 12 inch speaker never sounded good to me.

The Blues Deluxe is 45 watts, so competes well with loud guitar amps when needed.

Cheers,

wolf kristiansen
