Nice! I like the way you arpeggiate quicky up at one point, then kick into another momentary scalar reverie, then worry one or two notes. That's a jazzman's way of thinking. I've never been quite quick enough to jump from idea-set to idea-set like that. I tend to machine-gun, but with some unexpected movements and edges in that. I always wanted to play harp like Albert Collins plays guitar, with complete angularity possible at every instant. Buddy Guy has his own smoother stretchier way of doing the same thing.
But what you're doing is jazzy, and that's not something I ever had the imagination to do. I'm not just talking about the scales that you know. Some people focus on that aspect, but that's just secondary. The real jazz is inside the scales; it's in making a series of momentary decisions about where you're going to pause and swirl, or WHETHER you're going to pause and swirl.
Am I right?

Very very sweet Diggs. Played it through 3 times now and wish is was an even longer piece. Other tunes from that session?? Love to listen if there are.
FWIW- My observations of the recording as it sounds on my system*: - The bass is bit overwhelming and a somewhat muddy. - Percussion sounds a little soft or woolly and I wasn't sure if there where congas, a wood block or what - (perhaps that's intended?) -The harmonica sounds excellent however, and comes through the mix perfectly.
*my speakers are high end circa 1990 Thiel 3.5's and do very clean, very low bass. Good on just about everything but excellent on jazz and classical. They where $3k speakers in their day and are still a good reference. I can set them to roll off the very bottom and go down to 40z instead of 20z - and that helped a little bit. Normally I let them go 'all the way down' without issue.
Thanks everybody for your kind words and birthday greetings.I'm 67 and still kickin' it.
@Kudz you might be on to something. I heard jazz player once say it was a combination of head and heart when he soloed. I have a friend that is a MD. and a Phd. in biochemistry and plays bass. He saw Jimmy Bruno play once and said he couldn't imagine how fast his synapses in his brain were firing. This little pauses may be my slower brain firing LOL.
@Grey Owl I'm using cbh 2016 about 5 inches from the mic. using and Audio Techniqua AT3035
@Bonedog Yeah there will be 8 standard tunes. Your right about the eq. I had to use Finale and it Band in the box light as a submix in Garage Band. Went back and did some eg and the congas came out better but the bass only a little better. I had to write out the bass line in Finale because my full band in a box has really bad notation program and had to submix in Finale because it would not sync the bass and percussion in time as separate tracks in Garage Band
Dylan is doing standards so it's new thing. Wait till you hear Autumn Leaves. ----------
