Whats the concensus on this mic? Very similar to the 545, atleast it seems. But i never hear much about it. I'm wondering why.

Greg?

Well, the 540 is an omnidirectional mic; the 545 is unidirectional. I assume that means that proximity effects would be different for the two mics.

A friend of mine uses one, though. He seems to like it.

In 545, PE53 and 533SA and SB you have a mall CM-ish element. They are stronger and known as Shures best sounding stick mic element for harp.
