I have a friend who currently lives in Budapest, Hungary. She’s interested in learning to play harp. I’ll be sending her some basic info for beginner’s harps, price range to expect and a few pointers on instructional vids to look up etc.. So my question is…

Who here could give me an idea of where would be her best bet to buy a harp from? Rockin’ Ron’s or some other online vendor that’s Euro based? And what kind of cost would she be looking at for something in the Big River, SP20, LO type of harp range? Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

Thanks all.

I would think her best bet is to find a music shop in Hungary, which shouldn't be too difficult if she speaks the language.

Failing that, here's the online shop I use in Germany. Don't know what their postal charges to Hungary are, but their prices are unbeatable here, and you can load the website in a plethora of languages.

Good luck

Thanks Fin. I figured that Budapest would have at least 1 decent music store. But never having been to Europe, or Hungary in particular, I didn't know.

She does speak the language. She's been there for a few years. Teaches English as a 2nd language.

Have a good day bro.

There are at least 5 music stores in Budapest, all within a several blocks of the river. Some should be stocking harps. Or she could connect up with Szabo Tamas, a Hungarian harp player in Budapest who could help direct her to the best location.

Thomann has unbeatable prices, and is a big Hohner and Seydel distributor. They provide a 3-year warranty (as long as she does not open the harps and mess with the reeds). Free shipping within EU for a minimum order size (it varies by country, but usually around 50€), and for small orders (ie., 1 harp) shipping is reasonable. Delivery in 2-3 days. Highly recommended.
