james harmon mitch kashmar and others are playing locally this afternoon. it sold out a week ago, no tickets at the door. i think it is worth try see if somehow i can get in.
I think your best play is to find the band bus, so to speak, and chat with the players. Tell them you really really want to see the show but that it seems to be sold out. Offer to buy a CD on the spot. Ask if there's anyway they can get you in. Tell them you'll roadie for them. Ask if there's anything they need--i.e., a fresh cup of coffee--that you can run and get them.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
Heck, tell Mitch that Adam Gussow suggested all these ploys because he knows what a nice guy Mitch is and Gussow KNOWS Mitch won't disappoint. :)
well, if that doesn't swing, here's some blues for you listen to from last night's show back east.... Mr. Nick's Northeast Harmonica Showdown with Nick David, Darrell Nulisch, Dennis Gruenling and Steve Guyger
it was not in the cards yesterday. i was certain someone would show up with a ticket to sell. ticket’s were $40.00 and included a plate of bbq. they did not sell beer, but you were allowed to bring your own. and to top it off, we had perfect southern califonia weather.
the venue was a local airport, so i’d bet there were restrictions on ticket sales. a permit would have been required.
it is reassuring that a concert featuring blues harmonica can sell out in this day and age. it is my understanding that a total of 200 tickets were sold.
1847, this line really struck home: "it is reassuring that a concert featuring blues harmonica can sell out in this day and age. it is my understanding that a total of 200 tickets were sold." I went to see Jason Ricci and JJ Appleton a few weeks ago. It was an amazing show, the vids are up on YouTube. There were 14 people in the audience. It made me ashamed at some of the crap that sells out arenas and stadiums these days. On the other hand, I got to sit right up front and bullshit with Jason and JJ after the gig. ---------- "The blues are the roots of all American music. As long as American music survives, so will the blues."...Willie Dixon

people today only have so much disposable income, you have to pick and choose what it is you want to spend your entertainment dollar on. lots and lots of competition for that "almighty dollar"
