Well, I am stumped here. I'm a fan of Ritchie Blackmore's guitar work in Deep Purple, didn't much care for his later band Rainbow, and I have no love for the phlegm-coated yowl that Ronnie James Dio passed off as singing. Usually OT topics are introduceD with a word about how they would relate to the interest of blues harmonica players. I don't see the tie in. I'm sorry to sound a sour note, but I don't get this. ---------- Ted Burke tburke4@san.rr.com

My understanding is that OT means something of interest to the poster that most likely has nothing to do with harmonica. I've done plenty of them over the years - funny videos, comedy bits, wild musicianship not harmonica related, etc.
I enjoy Dio. Powerful voice. Blackmore is a deep talent. Loved Deep Purple from the first time I heard "Hush" off their first record.
A lady that works with me who used to live in CA talks of the days when Deep Purple first toured. Apparently, they used to rehearse in a garage in her neighborhood before big shows. She says they were young, a lot of fun and sounded great. ---------- The Iceman
Powerful, yes, but monotonous. It's like listening to someone operate a bandsaw. Singers with powerful voices with strong rhythm and blues influences like Paul Rodgers, Tom Jones and Bob Seger are more my style. Blackmore and Purple, in my judgement, are one of the great rock and roll bands.
