Ross Garren will be an Expert Guide at the upcoming Spring 2016 Harmonica Collective (harmonicacollective.com). He doesn't yet have a monster reputation as a player or teacher. But he's young and that will come. To give you an idea of him as a versatile player (diatonic, chromatic, bass, and chord) here are a few video clips.
Here's Ross playing the Schaman Medical Harmonica to back singer Kristin Toedtman. He's playing super simple, but it creates just the right groove for her soulful, relaxed vocal:
Here he is accompanying slide guitar with chord harmonica on the classic "Sleepwalk"
And playing both chord and bass with Alex Paclin on "Blue Rondo a la Turk"
Ross is also the overblow specialist at bluesharmonica.com. Here's a teaching segment:
There was another post of Ross and a guitarist put up here a month or so ago, he was playing chromatic harmonica through a bullet mike. Definitely worth a listen, they were both awesome. https://youtu.be/og_sp2ti1oo

I'm thrilled to be on board for this event! Any chance to hang and talk harmonica with the likes of Winslow, PT, Jason and a roomful of knowledgeable harp players is not to be missed! ---------- Ross Garren
Ross is knowledgeable and passionate about the harmonica. We spent some time together last night after the NAMM show. I am doing some adjustments to a few of his harmonicas. We have a mutual friend, Andre LaFosse, they have collaborated, and those works are also worth investigating if you are interested in the future of harmonica music. This is not the duo album I am thinking of, but it does feature some of Andre's weirdness along with Ross and his partner in the Sheriffs of Schroedingham . . .
Ah, here is the link for the duo stuff . . . http://www.rossgarren.com/selective-sync-conflict-2015---with-andre-lafosse.html Here is one of the tracks from that collection, with a vocal from Ross, gives you a taste of what can be done with the techology available to most of us--Andre is credited with "Echoplex Digital Pro" before guitar, LOL, it's like it's his real instrument and the guitar is a source for sonic materials hehehe

Ross really embodies and epitomizes everything the Harmonica Collective is about! It's a no holds barred study of the instrument itself. Blues, Jazz, country, classical it's about MUSIC to Ross his work, playing and attitude reflect that. This is a GREAT teacher and educator an academic, musical superstar and were VERY lucky to have him in this capacity! Jason Ricci ---------- www.mooncat.org
One thing Jason is passionate about (one of the many things :)) is promoting younger and newer players who show exceptional talent and ability - he always has his ear to the ground and his eyes scanning the horizon. Ross Garren is one of those people, and when Jason suggested him I immediately agreed.
Another is Jarred Goldwebber. Barely out of his teens, Jarred was an attendee at the 2013 Harmonica Collective spring gathering, and Jason's been keeping an eye on him ever since.
Jarred (who was also a SPAH youth scholarship recipient) will be joining us along with Buzz Krantz to staff the Red Schoolhouse, our program for players closer to the beginner end of the spectrum. The Harmonica Collective has always been aimed at intermediate-to-advanced players, but we inevitable get players in their early stage of development and we've decided to offer them a stronger, more organized program. =========== Winslow
